GARNACHA

Hardy variety, widely cultivated in Spain and France.

PHENOLOGY
It sprouts a week earlier than Tempranillo, and it ripens a few days later.

CLUSTERS AND BERRIES
Medium-large and dense cluster. Medium-sized berry.

PESTS AND DISEASES
Sensitive to vine moths and botrytis in spring time; slightly sensitive to mildew and oidium.

AGRONOMIC CHARACTERISTICS
Medium vigour, drought resistant. Its tendency to coulure has been corrected by clonal selection of the variety.

OENOLOGICAL CHARACTERISTICS
Produces lighter colour wines than other varieties, so it is used in Rosé wines, which are fruity and have a high alcohol content, or in blends (Tempranillo or Syrah).
